The two above a very good but I would say that a good PFD and

P&ID set is sufficient for an experienced engineer or contractor to build

a plant. They would have to produce a great deal of additional information

in the for of specifications, drawings, etc but that is time consuming but

not difficult for someone with experience.

The terms P&ID & PFD stand for ''Piping & Instrumentation
Chupachups
Diagram'' & ''Process Flow Diagram.''

A PFD is a high level diagram that shows the general process flow. An

into the house & going to a water heater, or an ice maker or washing
machine. But no detail would be included such as valves or size of the
line.

A P&ID is a more detailed diagram that shows valves & line sizes, & major
pieces of equipment such as a water heater. This is still a high level
diagram because it does not show enough details that would be used in
actual assembly of a system.

Normally P&IDs are very complex..as they include info abt the piping.(o.d,
thk, etc), the instruments used on the plant(eg. compressors, heaters,
boilers, etc), It not only shows process piping but also the side products'
piping..

PFDs are normally used to understand the process conceptually..But P&IDs
are used for the actual construction of plants...
