What are some future challenges for chemical engineers
Please put some thought into it if you can. What do you think the future is
for chemical engineers? What will be the challenges. Obviously
dependency on oil will be a big topic in the chemical engineering
industry.What else?
future of chemical engineering is secure
dont b tense..
me also doin chemical engineering
actually v d chemical engineer can work in software inudstry but d
software guys cannot work in chemical industry..
chemical is core branch.
process engineers have great demand nowadayz.. so all d bst n score well in ur xamz
To start, consider from U.C. Berkeley professor (quoted):
''Environmental issues impact us on three levels'' says Chemical
Engineering Professor Enrique Iglesia, ''and as scientists, we need to
deal with all three. Locally, we must deal with water pollution & air
pollution in densely populated areas; regionally, we must address acid
rain & the contamination of large aquifers, & globally we need true
international, scientific, & political collaborations to deal with ozone depletion & with anthropogenic greenhouse gases.'' Since much of my work involved environmental issues, these comments are offered: 1- Fresh, healthy drinking water will increasingly rise in value & in demand. Many disciplines, including ChEs, & coalititions of doers must work together soon & efficiently to not only implement known technologies & efficiences here, but also create & perfect new ideas to prevent or much better minimize the transport of toxic & unwanted chemicals from man is living into our receiving streams & groundwaters. ChEs should & must lead technical & social efforts toward smarter & ever more effective treatment & usage of waters. The often too tired & stagnant thinking in infrastructure jobs, esp. by governmental folks with some civil engineering training & adverse to any ''change will need new thinking & people. 2- For USA, the many changes needed (or maybe *forced upon us in harsh ways) to get even close to sustainability for key resources & energy will be very *shocking & difficult. ChEs need to be much contributing (with other technical pioneers) to the world our grand-children will probably be surviving in, with easy to use oil & natural gas being like the ''silver or gold'' of metals- very pricey & carefully used. Since so many issues remain for ''safe to man/earth'' coal or nuclear usage (another large group of challenges), any sustainable environment (with good living standards) will only be attainable after many breakthroughs in energy systems utilizing sun energy (many solar. wind & tide options; growing of algae/ sea weeds/ etc. for biofuels & raw materials; geothermals ideas, etc.). Just a start; ChEs can & must be addressing many challenges.
The exceedingly exorbitant amount that one needs to learn to
master it.
